Set in 20 acres of peaceful pasture and woodland, we’re surrounded by wildlife. We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful area of England. Mincombe Barn is midway between Honiton and Sidmouth, within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a UNESCO world heritage site, with the Blackdown Hills AONB just to the north. We’ve transformed this former stable block into three sumptuous hideaways, designed with love to provide a memorable holiday experience. Each room is individually designed to be elegant, comfortable and practical. All our rooms can be made as either a twin or double. All our rooms are super spacious- with plenty of room for our super-king size beds, a cosy sofa, smart TV and underfloor heating, to say nothing of our luxury bathrooms, each with a deep tub and walk in shower. Children are most welcome – all our rooms have plenty of space for an extra bed, travel cot or both! After a great night’s sleep, tuck in to breakfast (available at an additional charge), with a range of home baked treats. – if you haven’t tried one of our cheese and bacon breakfast scones, you’re missing out!
Hello! We are Martine, Luke and Jackson, and we’re waiting to welcome you to Mincombe Barn. We’ve worked in one of Devon’s premier hotels for a combined total of 30 years (well, Jackson’s not done many) We wanted to take a step back from a busy hotel environment, to give more to our guests, and provide a relaxed but luxurious place to stay, right on the beautiful East Devon Way and close to the glorious Jurassic Coast.
There’s something for everyone to enjoy from Mincombe Barn. If chilling out at the beach is your thing, we’ve got plenty to choose from. Stroll along the Regency promenade at Sidmouth, or head to the clear water at Branscombe, tucked away under dramatic red cliffs that glow in the setting sun. We can tell you about other less well known beaches where you can escape the crowds even at the busiest time of year. Take a hike! We’re lucky to be situated right on the East Devon Way (link), a network of footpaths that will take you through some of the county’s most spectacular scenery. Just head out from the garden and up the valley, and you’ll emerge high on the hills where amazing views await you. We like the scenery best in spring and autumn- when the woods are filled with bluebells, or the falling leaves crunch under your feet. From dinosaurs to crinolines- if you’re interested in exploring the past, you’ll be spoilt for choice here. There are fossil-filled museums and Tudor palaces, National Trust gems and little-known stately homes. At the heart of Devon is historic Exeter, with its Roman walls and Cathedral- and secret passages under the modern shops.
