Chwilog is a tiny village in North Wales, on the Llyn Peninsula, not far from Snowdonia National Park, in an area known for its beautiful landscapes and plethora of hiking opportunities. One mile from the coast, the Afon Wen river flows through the village on its way to the sea. Criccieth, located just a short drive away, is a charming seaside town that boasts a castle built in the 13th century that is perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia Mountains. The town's two beaches are perfect for watersports, and the nearby Snowdonia National Park is a paradise for hikers and cyclists. Spend your time lounging in one of the many pubs, restaurants, or tea rooms while sampling some of the local fare (including the world-famous Cadwalader's ice cream) or taking a stroll along the beach and watching the porpoises play in the waves. Stop by Abersoch, a picturesque harbour town sandwiched between two beautiful bays. During the summer, it hosts some of the most prestigious sailing regattas in all of North Wales. In addition to the world-famous surfing at Hell's Mouth, watersports such as windsurfing, water skiing, and dinghy sailing are also readily available. Further afield are Harlech Castle, Pwllheli host to European and world sailing events, Caernarfon Castle, beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses. Portmeirion, with its wonderful Italianate gardens, unique shops and restaurants, and the Ffestiniog railway, is also nearby.
