Costcutter, Boots, No. 3 deli/tea room, The Walnut Tree pub with lovely garden and Heworth Plaice fish and chip shop are a few yards away at either end of the road. A few yards further are a Post Office, 2 Many Wines wine bar/cafe/deli, a Co-op, 3 hairdressers, 2 beauticians, another Boots, a greengrocer, The Nag’s Head pub, church, chapel and Chinese takeaway. On the way into York are: Asda, Lidl, Morrisons and Waitrose. Stroll round Glenn Gardens on East Parade, with its flowers, bowling green, cafe, play park and basketball court and enjoy our lovely local delis, tea rooms and pubs mentioned above from brunch through to evening meals and drinks. Ten minutes further, have a yomp on Heworth Stray (where the Cavaliers camped in the Civil War!) or try out the Red Goat Climbing walls and cafe/ bar/ restaurant; 5 minutes from there join the most beautiful section of York’s city walls.
