Nestled in the rolling countryside of Angus, Scotland, Redroofs offers a sanctuary for rest, relaxation, and restoration. Our holiday cottage is beautifully styled, combining simple luxury with calm, nature-infused surroundings.
Our guests often tell us there’s a “wow” moment when they arrive — a feeling that everything has been considered just for them. From the soft textures and elegant touches indoors, to the calm surroundings of fields, trees and sky just outside your window, Redroofs is designed to help you breathe deeply and unwind completely.
In the cottage you’ll discover an oasis designed around your comfort.
Ideal for couples, families, or groups of up to four (eight if yo book the cabins as well), Redroofs is your invitation to unwind beneath the Scottish sky. Here, laughter mixes with the rustle of leaves, and every moment is a chance to restore your spirit. We don't do “party hard.” We do peace, presence, and deep breaths beneath the open sky.
Whether you're watching the sunset from your verandah, curling up by the fire in the cottage with your favourite book, or listening to birdsong, every moment is a step closer to restoration.
As a small, family-run retreat with a big heart, Redroofs is where warm hospitality meets thoughtful design. We care deeply about your experience and go out of our way to ensure every stay is memorable — in the most peaceful way possible.
Explore the beauty and tranquility of Redroofs by the Woods. Nature enthusiasts will be in their element here. This area is surrounded by stunning countryside, and there are plenty of walking trails close by including Balgavies Loch and Wildlife Reserve and Montreathmont Forest. Explore the lush greenery, breathe in the clean country air, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the local flora and fauna. If you’re looking for more to do, Forfar, Brechin and Montrose are a short drive away. For golf enthusiasts, there are several golf courses in the vicinity. Dundee, Aberdeen and Perth are within an hours drive. There are sandy beaches 20 minutes away at Lunan Bay, St Cyrus and Montrose. Local village pubs and tea shops offer great hospitality.
The house and surrounding area are steeped in World War history, as it was once a Red Cross hospital for soldiers during World War I, and Montreathmont Forest was the location of the Montreathmont Camp Radio Station in World War II and as Airship Station in WWI. The listening radio station began as a secret listening post and codebreaking centre, which operated as an outstation of Bletchley Park during World War II.
