Michelle and her family live in Whithorn and are on hand to make sure you get the best out of your stay. We are experienced hosts, as we have various holiday lets in the area so can assure you you will be well looked after. If required, we can help with advice about the area, places to visit and things to do. Our passion is hospitality, but we are also keen cyclists and boaters so can advise about suitable wild swimming spots, fishing and cycle tracks.

Property information

This two bedroomed static caravan, sleeping four people is on a quiet site near the village of Whithorn, Newton Stewart. The bedrooms are one twin and one double. They have fitted wardrobes and new carpets. Full bedding and towels are provided free of charge. Rosie is well equipped for a self catering holiday with outdoor decking and own garden area. The caravan has central heating, 2 televisions, a microwave, air fryer, fridge and fully fitted kitchen with gas hobs. All kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery is provided. The living room has two settees, one of which is a sofa bed, electric fire and extending dining table. There is a separate shower and toilet. Parking is provided outside the caravan. Pets are welcome, but by prior arrangement. a charge will be made. They must be kept on a lead. The site has laundry facilities for guests use. It boasts a grassed playground and additional parking. There is a minimum two night stay and 4 hours notice is required to book Rosie. Michelle your host lives locally and can advise about the area and is a font of local knowledge. The welcome brochure details many local attractions and venues. It also includes tips and tricks to get the best out of Rosie's equipment and facilities.

Neighbourhood information

Castlewigg caravan site is situated in the designated Wigtownshire biosphere. This is an area dedicated to protecting the environment and the renowned dark skies feature of the area. Stargazing is a recommended pastime during your stay! The nearby village of Whithorn is considered the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland, and features a visitor centre highlighting the archaeology of the area and various digs and sites. Fishing and Agriculture are the main industries around here as it is charmingly rural. There are three working ports, Garlieston, the Isle of Whithorn and Port Patrick, where local lobster crab and whelk fishermen can be seen plying their trade. Sea fishing trips can be booked in Port Patrick. Cycling is a popular pastime here. There is a dedicated hard surface cycle track 4 miles away at Glasserton which takes you via a circular route through fantastic coastal scenery. It eventually links up with the Isle of Whithorn where you can get much needed refreshment at the Steampacket Inn. Tourists are well catered for with various traditional pubs and restaurants nearby. The Isle of Whithorn features its own brewery and Bladnoch has a world famous distillery, as has Newton Stewart. Wild swimming, sea kyaking and paddleboarding are local hobbies as there are various excellent locations to persue these hobbies.
