Salmestone Grange is one of England’s best-preserved medieval monastic granges. Once part of the great St Augustine’s Abbey in Canterbury, Salmestone dates back to the 12th century and was home to Benedictine monks who farmed the land and lived a life of quiet devotion.
After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the building passed through royal and ecclesiastical hands, was lovingly restored by 20th-century and then 21st-century custodians, and today opens its doors once more—this time to guests seeking a peaceful escape steeped in history.
Whether you’re here for a romantic break, a heritage stay, or simply a unique place to rest your head, Salmestone Grange invites you to slow down and soak in nearly 900 years of stories.
