There are walks from the door connecting to community woodland and also a network of scenic pathways over National Trust of Scotland land to Rockcliffe. The centre of Kippford is about a 10 minute walk with its slipway, sailing facilities, coastal walks, shop and two pubs, both of which serve food.
Dalbeattie woods with more walks and the 7Stanes mountain bike trails is about 2 miles away and it is only a short drive to numerous sandy beaches, Galloway Forest (Britain's first nominated Dark Sky Park), loch and river fishing, hill walking, numerous golf courses including the championship 18 hole course at Southerness, along with the RSPB reserve at Mersehead and numerous cultural attractions in the area including Castles, Abbeys and Gardens.
