Mabel our beautiful Shepherd’s hut, was built here on the farm by us. Nestled in a peaceful corner of our small stud farm amongst a newly planted forest, you will have complete privacy with no neighbours, surrounded only by nature. Off grid, with a solar panel to power the gas boiler, usb ports and lighting. Relax in the outside bath whilst star gazing and listening to the call of the owls. See the hares racing around the paddock amongst the horses. Mabel offers a tranquil space to detox, with views across the idyllic Vale of Belvoir to its castle. You will have a front patio with a fire pit, bbq, raised seating area and a roomy bath big enough for two. A back garden with more seating and a bonfire bbq- a suntrap in the evening. Inside threre is a hobbit wood burning stove that will keep you warm and a raised king sized bed for comfort. An en-suite bathroom with modern compost toilet and shower. Also available is a toilet and shower within the stable block, along with plug sockets in case you need to charge anything more then USB. Please note there is no mains power in the shepherds hut only USB. There isn’t a fridge/ freezer, an oven or microwave. Cooking is done on the gas stoves, bbq/ fire pit. The kettle can be boiled on the gas stove or on top of the wood burning stove. There is a cool box provided and ice packs that can be collected for it. We hope that you have a relaxing stay.
Someone will be available throughout your stay for any help that may be needed. Self check in is on offer too.
The Vale of Belvoir offers miles of walking and cycling. The canal can be accessed approximately 15 minutes on foot from Mabel. You can then walk another 15 minutes to Redmile and it’s famous pub The Windmill- booking is essential at weekends. Belvoir castle is not far, steeped in history offering many events. Bottesford is walkable in around 30/40 minutes and offers many amenities including pubs, restaurants, a wonderful greengrocer and butcher offering local and high quality produce. Plus more. Bottesford has a train station where you can get to Nottingham and Grantham easily. Offering connections to London and up north.
