Neighbourhood information

Information correct at time of writing. Stone House is ideally placed for walking, cycling and touring the Welsh Marches. There are 120 acres of common land on the doorstep which affords amazing views and is home to many species of birds and wildlife. The market towns of Leominster, Ludlow, Ledbury and Hay-on-Wye are all easily reached and are full of wonderful old buildings, lovely independent shops and great restaurants and cafés. The county town of Hereford is ten miles away, its jewel in the crown, the cathedral with its famous Mappa Mundi exhibition. Hereford is located on the River Wye which also offers many opportunities for canoeing enthusiasts. There are many superb places to dine out including The Cider Barn at Pembridge, The Nags Head at Canon Pyon, The Angel at Kingsland and The Riverside at Aymestry. The county is famous for its stunning half-timbered houses and boasts a Black and White Village Trail. Equally famous for its cider, there are many local producers that sell at the farm gate. Nearby Kington is the starting point for the Offa's Dyke Walking Trail. A small town with 2 butchers, excellent greengrocer (who also sells fish and game) and delicatessen. Play golf at Kington, England’s highest golf course with stunning views over mid Wales. A great course, unique and challenging in many ways. The views after the first few holes are spectacular. Mind the sheep on the fairways! Or enjoy 18 holes at Leominster Golf Club, who also welcome visitors. Nearby Pembridge on the Black and White village trail has a 16th century market place and the Chapel Gallery is well worth a look. The 15th century New Inn is a great pub. Walk down to the river where children can swim in the summer. The area has many fabulous gardens to visit, along with historic houses and National Trust properties. Being on the Welsh border there are many castles to visit which make for a great day out. In the opposite direction can be found the stunning Malvern...
