Southbourne is a sought-after area of Bouremouth, full of coffee shops, restaurants, bars and eclectic shops with of course its stunning blue flag beach. Hengistbury Head is a dramatic headland less than 10 minutes drive. It is an outstanding site for wildlife and archaeology with beautiful beaches and views across the New Forest, Isle of Wight and Purbecks. Take a long leisurely walk or take the land train, at Mudeford spit you can take a boat to Christchurch. There are two cafe/restaurants for refreshments or a meal. Head to Tuckton Tea Gardens just 5 minutes drive for a relaxing walk or picnic, or have lunch in the quaint tea gardens cafe. Jump on a boat taxi down to Christchurch and soak up some history or book a boat excursion for the day. The New Forest National Park with its wild ponies is a 20 drive away. Bike hire is available at Brockenhurst and Burley. Bournemouth town centre is just 10 minute drive and Sandbanks and Poole a little further. For the budding explorer take in the Jurassic Coast. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are must see areas of the Purbecks, there are also some breaktaking walks along the Jurassic Coast path. Show more
