The Summer House was newly converted for 2018 and is situate at the top of 6 steps set in our large private garden offering a delightful base for exploring the Eden Valley and the Lake District. We have created studio accommodation to a high standard and provide a comfortable king size oak bed, chest of drawers, double wardrobe, fully fitted kitchen with integrated dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob and breakfast bar, the living room area has a smart tv, sofa and woodburner for those cosy nights. The en suite shower room has a large electric shower with complimentary toiletries, and towels perfect for your rural year round retreat. The patchwork of fields and fells offer an amazing view you would not tire of in any season. We have recently added a Zappi EV charging point for use by visitors for an additional charge.
A welcome pack is provided for all visitors. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are also provided for that important cuppa on arrival.
We have provided an extensive range of leaflets covering a wide variety of activities and places to visit should you require inspiration. With two local pubs approximately 2 miles away you are never short of good food and refreshment. Please note if you want a taxi to take you to the pub, it will come from Penrith which is 8 miles away, so each trip could cost you around forty pounds and that’s if they are available. It is a lovely walk during the day but an unlit road when dark.
2018 was our first year hosting and we really enjoy meeting so many new people from different places. Having lived in this beautiful and unspoilt piece of Cumbria we are only too happy to share it with our visitors.
The Summer House is located near the River Eden and many hours can be spent walking along the river to Lacey’s Cave and the nearby village of Little Salkeld. Long Meg and her Daughters (large standing stone circle) is another delightful walk on the level and offers beautiful views of the sun setting in the evening. The nearby village of Langwathby is set on the River Eden and provides a delightful walk though the village of Edenhall and along the river, known as Lady’s Walk. Langwathby also has a village pub offering very good meals.
Using the Summer House as a base on the edge of the very popular and busy Lake District it is very easy to gain access to the many tourist attractions around and about but allowing you to leave the hussle and bustle of the crowds behind at the end of the day.
