Characterful and spacious barn in a lovely quiet rural spot with a beautiful view not far from the south coast. * 7th NIGHT FREE for weekly stays*. * 3 FREE NIGHTS for two week stays* Surrounded by rolling hills, wooded valleys and fields of grazing sheep and cows, 'Sunflowers' is ideal for those looking for a peaceful retreat. Or for families, there's plenty of space for the kids to run around, both indoors and outside. We welcome people needing accommodation while working in the area - particularly those wanting to take advantage of our discounts for longer stays. The barn can easily sleep 5 (possibly 6) in its three bedrooms. One or two lightweight full-size divan beds can be added when required (see photos). The front door leads into a large beamed living area with an open view over unspoilt countryside. Outside is a lawn with a picnic table where you can enjoy the same view. The living room has comfortable leather settees, fast wi-fi, 32"TV, DVD player and music centre at one end and a modern, well-equipped kitchen and dining area at the other. Just four steps lead up the large family bathroom and twin bedroom. On the upper floor is the master bedroom with a king-size bed, ensuite with shower and a door opening onto an upper level patio with outdoor furniture and a lawned garden. There's also a spacious single bedroom on this floor. All bedrooms have TV. A cot with bedding, high chair and retractable stair gate are available if needed. Parking space is available two cars.
I moved here with my partner in September 2019 and I was happy to take over the holiday letting of 'Sunflowers', which had already achieved an excellent reputation with the previous owners. They'd completely renovated the barn while still retaining its original charm and character. I come from Guernsey and am a keen beach-goer and sea swimmer - and I'm still enjoying getting to know the area and South East Cornwall's lovely coastline. My partner and I fell in love with this spot as soon as we saw it, and are particularly appreciating the beautiful view over unspoilt countryside and the peace and quiet of this tucked-away location. We're working towards achieving an eco-friendly, permaculture lifestyle here. We've installed solar panels, planted over twenty fruit trees and created more veg beds and terraces. We enjoy meeting our visitors - and sharing some of the fruit and veg we're growing here (depending, of course, on the season). Our home barn is just across the courtyard from 'Sunflowers'. While respecting your privacy, we're conveniently nearby should you need anything or have any queries. Jules (on the right side of photo)
Sunflowers Barn is situated in a quiet part of Cornwall in the small hamlet of Trelowia. There are coastal walks and many lovely beaches nearby, including Seaton Beach, just a 3.5-mile drive down a beautiful valley - or 45 mins walk through spectacular woodland and riverside nature reserve. The uphill path on your return will keep you fit! The picturesque, bustling harbour town of Looe is just 4.6 miles away, with a myriad of shops, pubs, cafes and lovely sandy beach. From here, you can take a boat trip along the coast to Polperro. Quieter beaches nearby include expansive Whitsand Bay and stunningly beautiful Lantic Bay. Though tucked away in a deeply rural location, the Barn is just ¾ of a mile from the main road, making it easy to travel to many local tourist attractions. These include The Lost Gardens of Heligan (just under an hour) and The Eden Project (40 mins). For younger guests, there's a monkey sanctuary, large go-track and a long zip wire over an unused quarry nearby. There's a popular surf school at Whitsand Bay and golf, fishing (on lakes or at sea), canoeing, kayaking and paddle-boarding are also available locally. Exeter Airport is just over an hour's drive and Newquay Airport 50 mins. The Brittany Ferries port at Plymouth is about 40 mins.
