The Barn is a beautiful oak framed building that has been in it's present location for a few hundred years. previously it was a thatched cow barn. This was then dismantled and the present building erected about 20 years ago.
We have 4 houses on our site of which The Barn is the only one we rent out. The Barn has it's own private garden (although not fully fenced) and is completely self contained.
The rooms are all very large and airy. The lounge is a very large room with an incredible vaulted ceiling, displaying Oak beams.
Bedroom 1 is downstairs with en suite, the remaining 2 other bedrooms and family bathroom are upstairs. We have a very large and comfortable King size sofa bed in the dining area that will accommodate 2 adults.
There are two steps down into the lounge, with a grab rail for accessibility.
We have a beautiful 2 acre lake on site with many natural wildlife including a variety of wild birds. Deer can often be seen on the garden and in the grounds. We have a forest gate which leads straight onto the New Forest with miles of walking available.
The Lake is great for paddle boarding and we supply boards for guests to use free of charge. We also have our own 100 metre zip wire on site which is great fun.
Guests will need to complete disclaimers before taking part in either of these two activities though. Please note that if you use the Zip wire or paddle boards without completing the disclaimers, it will be assumed that you agree with all of the conditions on the disclaimers and all activities are at your own risk.
A breakfast hamper will be provided at the start of your stay and should last for the duration of your stay.
We welcome one well behaved dog free of charge, subsequent dogs are extra, payable in cash on arrival. Please message me for info on this. Please confirm if you are bringing a dog upon booking. (Please note that dogs will need to be on the lead around the houses and farm buildings to protect our cats and free range birds.)
We're a country family who enjoy spending time outdoors.
We live next door to The Barn. We're usually on site to help with any queries.
Please ask if you or your children would like to meet our very friendly Welsh pony. I can arrange for a pony petting experience with Super Susie, where you can brush her and give her lots of love!
We also offer a supervised chicken feeding session with our very friendly chickens. They will eat out of your hands or you can drop the food on the floor for them to peck at. We sometimes have chicks or ducklings that you can meet and pet.
Our two super friendly spaniels Pepper and Chilli will come and visit if you would like but we normally keep them away from guests unless guests would like to interact with them.
We also have two quite shy Farm cats who you may not even see as they're usually sleeping in the stables during the day and catching mice by night in the fields.
Some of our birds are free range during the day. They are quite comical to watch as they spend a lot of time chasing each other. We encourage them to be free range as they are quite good at eating up the insects.
The Barn is in a very quiet location. There is easy access to the A31 but as we are sited in a valley, traffic noise is very minimal. The local wildlife is usually the dominant sound with bird song to be heard most of the year round. In the autumn, you can sometimes hear the booming of the local deer crashing their antlers together in their mating ritual.
As The Barn is in a remote part of the forest, a car is essential.
