Nestled on a quite lane in the small village of Waltham Chase, this charming holiday cottage in the grounds of the family home offers the perfect country escape. Located on the edge of the South Downs National Park, Waltham Chase is an ideal base for all that Hampshire has to offer: from the medieval market town of Bishop’s Waltham (2 miles) at the mouth of the river Hamble to Southampton (12 miles), the vibrant retail capital of the South coast. The charming village of Wickham (2.9 miles), with its 13th Century market square offers a number of independent retailers selling unique gifts, crafts, chocolates and antiques and an array of coffee shops, bars and restaurants.
Entering the property, you'll find the modern, well-equipped kitchen to meet all your holiday needs and a well-appointed bathroom with bath and shower. The light and airy lounge, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring, is tastefully furnished with comfortable seating and a Smart TV. Patio doors open out onto the large garden area. Heading upstairs, you will find a comfy king-size bed in a tranquil space, designed for rest and relaxation. A small en-suite WC and fitted wardrobes completes this floor.
Outside, the property boasts a beautiful garden with a thoughtfully screened-off patio area with table and chairs to one side providing privacy and a small pond with garden seating to the other side, allowing you to enjoy the outdoor space at your leisure.
We are delighted you are thinking of booking a stay at The Bothy and although the cottage shares a driveway with our home and we're invariably around, we take a hands-off approach to hosting, preferring to leave our guests to settle in in peace, but are easily contacted if you have questions during your stay.
We have 2 grown up daughters, 3 cats, are keen petrol-heads and can often be seen (and heard!) heading off to some motoring event or other in the drier (and hopefully warmer) months!
The surrounding countryside is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Miles of scenic walking and cycling trails provide endless opportunities for adventure. The nearby Meon Valley Trail (3.5miles) offers a leisurely route along a disused railway line that meanders through some of the area's most stunning scenery. For those interested in history and culture, the region is dotted with fascinating landmarks and heritage sites: the magnificent cathedral, historic buildings, and vibrant market of Winchester are just a short drive away (12.5miles) or the charming streets and impressive ruins of Bishops Waltham Palace offer a glimpse into England's rich past (2.1 miles). For golfing enthusiasts, Meon Valley Gold Club is nearby.
