Withernsea is home to historic Pier Towers, a sandy beach and the beautiful, landscaped Valley Gardens. While you are here, climb the 144 steps of the Withernsea Lighthouse for breathtaking views over the town and coast. The Lighthouse Museum features RNLI, HM Coastguard exhibits, garden and tea room, a local history room, a Tourist Information Point and a memorial to the 1950s film star Kay Kendall. This local girl brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to Withernsea.
South of Withernsea, Spurn Point National Nature Reserve, stretches along this fascinating land formation and supports a variety of plants and wildlife unique to this region. This is one of the best places in the country to watch migrating birds. The peninsula also has a 120ft lighthouse and is famous for its lifeboat, the only constantly manned lifeboat station around Britain`s shores watching over the Humber Estuary. You could also take a tour of RAF Holmpton, a former Cold War nuclear bunker just three miles away.
Withernsea has 3 supermarkets, swimming baths with gym and tennis facilities, amusement arcades, play park and also a stage in the Valley Gardens with live entertainment throughout the summer season.
