Built in 1325 Samlesbury Hall is a unique and exciting visitor attraction. The Hall and its extensive grounds is open to the public and is free to visit (please check our website for opening times).
In the early 1920s the Hall was ready to be demolished, and a housing estate built on the site. Six Blackburn businessmen bought the Hall to save the ancient building. These gentlemen started the Samlesbury Hall Trust in 1925.
The Samlesbury Hall Trust began in 1925, in order to maintain and keep the Hall open for the visitors.
Today's Hall offers a diverse and interesting visit, of course there is plenty of history with free tours taking place on a Sunday. We also have a wafflery, offering not only homemade waffles and sweet treats but ice-cream, traditional pick and mix sweets or simply just a coffee to be enjoyed in the beautiful court yard. We have our newly refurbished Herritage cafe where guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea followed by a lovely stroll in our manicured grounds.
Nestled in the woods is our brilliant playground. You can climb in through the windows of the miniature Samlesbury Hall replica & climb the rope bridge to the Mayflower ship! There is also a charming wooden trail; with bridges, swings and lots of fun obstacles for the whole family to enjoy – a challenge for adults as well as children!
The playground is completely free for all to use when the Hall is open to the public, along with free parking and entry to the Hall. As a registered charity any pennies you spend go straight back into the Hall, to keep it open for all to enjoy.
