The Old Town Hall was built in 1862 primarily as a Drill Hall for training men of the Wensleydale Volunteers from Redmire, Castle Bolton and West Witton. It also was used for dances, concerts, wedding receptions and social gatherings.
In 1966 the building was converted into a single storey house with a shop and post office. In 2005 the conversion to a two-storey house was completed and The Old Town Hall Bed and Breakfast was opened. Since then the building has undergone extensive upgrades to provide luxurious accommodation.
We offer a lounge/breakfast room on the ground floor where guests can enjoy complimentary tea and cake of arrival. This room has a choice of bed arrangements – a super-king bed or two full size single beds, please let us know your preference when booking.
We have been welcoming guests to The Old Town Hall since July 2015 and very much enjoy meeting people from all over the world, hearing about their travels and what they would like to see and do in the Yorkshire Dales. We enjoy many of the local walks direct from our front door or venturing a bit further afield making use of the glorious local countryside. Our highlight has been winning the “Best Guest Accommodation for England Award in 2018/19” for which we feel honoured to win. We aim to make everybody’s stay a relaxing and peaceful one.
