The upstairs (first floor) flat over Portobello Woodfired Pizza and Bistro is in the middle of the town, close to the harbour, restaurants, take-aways and bars. It was built in the 1750's and is much older than its grander neighbours. The flat has its own door accessed from a small car park in Catherine Street and through Portobello's patio.
There is one bedroom with two single beds and a large sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen has cooker (gas hob and electric oven), fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and is equipped for four.
The front of the flat looks out onto the street and the kitchen over the yard to the buildings beyond.
Please be aware that the building opposite is being refurbished and work is currently being carried out during working hours.
Contractors and families welcome.
Quiet, well behaved dogs allowed.
Discount at Portobello (usually open Thursday to Sunday) for take-away pizza or dine-in (booking usually required)
In Maryport, enjoy the sand, pebble and rocky beach, harbour and marina, Aquarium, local walks, cafes and bars. Maryport was a prosperous town but like so many of our towns and cities, became run down but is now reinventing itself with small shops and businesses opening as well as some major regeneration work. A bit further afield there's Silloth and the Solway National Landscape while the quieter, more remote north western Lakes (Crummock Water, Ennerdale, Loweswater, Buttermere etc. are all less than an hour by car). The station is a 10 minute walk from the flat so leave the car behind and take the train down the coast to Whitehaven, St. Bees, Ravenglass and La'al Ratty (Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway). Or Carlisle for the Cathedral, Castle and Tullie House museum.
