I own & operate True North Lodge here in the Scottish Highlands along with my husband Dave. We are lucky to live in a very beautiful part of the world.
We have lived, worked & travelled in North America, Australia & NZ and Europe and we have used AirBnB as guests many times too. We have also lived and worked throughout Scotland and are both Snowboard Instructors and general outdoor enthusiasts. We enjoy long distance trails and have walked both the West Highland Way as well as all 1000kms of the Camino de Santiago.
We're looking forward to having you stay with us, don't hesitate to ask for recommendations and information! We love sharing our we part of Scotland with everyone!
We're just off the A82 just south of Loch Ness/Fort Augustus. We offer a fantastic base for touring, sightseeing & relaxing in nature.
The Great Glen Way, Loch Oich and the Caledonian Canal are on our doorstep & we're only 15 min to Loch Ness, 25 min to Nevis Range Ski Resort, 40 min to Ben Nevis Base and 50 min to Glenfinnan Viaduct.
The village of Invergarry is a 5 minute drive away with a small shop and off-license at the Petrol Station.
Fort Augustus is 10-15 minutes away to the North and is a wee town which has an assortment of local shops, pubs and a Spar supermarket. It's lovely for a wander and is on the southern shore of Loch Ness.
Spean Bridge is about 15 minutes drive to the South and has a well stocked Spar and a couple of eateries.
Both Spean Bridge and Fort Augustus have a pharmacy.
For a 'big' shop then we suggest Fort William, 30 minutes away, which has all the main supermarkets. Fort William is also the location of the closest A&E/Hospital.
The Eagle Barge Inn which operates with seasonal opening hours is a floating pub at Laggan Locks - A pleasant 30 minute walk away down the Great Glen Way.
Also open seasonally The Great Glen Hostel's Farmhouse Kitchen opens daily for lunch and dinner with home cooked food, and is a 20 minute walk.
For breakfast and lunch then we highly recommend the Well of the Seven Heads which is only about a 20 minute walk from True North Lodge. Fantastic food and lovely owners there. Check for seasonal opening hours.
Our *next* favourite for breakfast, lunch and late afternoon meals is the Jaggy Thistle Cafe which is a 10 minute drive on the way to Fort Augustus. Fantastic home cooked food, brilliant cakes. Not forgetting the awesome Gift Shop!
There are several local hotels offering lunches and evening meals in the surrounding areas which operate with seasonal opening hours. The closest restaurant is the Invergarry Hotel.
