The nearby gastro-pub serves locally sourced food and the beer garden often hosts live music performed outdoors, it's perfect for a pint and a singalong. So too for Taylor's Tow Bar with spectacular views over Laugharne. The Village Store and Deli have great breakfast options and takeaway meals and the beach shop cafe serves up a delicious variety of ice creams and homemade cakes. Visitors can journey along the Wales Coast Path to Laugharne to see the Boathouse where poet Dylan Thomas lived. With strong family connections with Llansteffan, he visited regularly from the age of 4 right up until the day before he sailed for America. With a rich and colourful history, Carmarthen is the oldest town in Wales. One of Carmarthen’s most famous early residents was Merlin the Magician. The Welsh name for the town, Caerfyrddin, means Merlin’s Fort and many believe the town was named after King Arthurs wizard. Carmarthenshire stretches from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north, with wondrous gardens, awe-inspiring castles, Wales’ longest beaches, and market towns brimming with local produce and chic shopping.
