Property information

This iconic house has wonderful views over the mill pond, the River Burn and the surrounding water meadows. Sitting on the coast road on the outskirts of the popular coastal village of Burnham Overy Staithe, Water Mill House forms part of the superb conversion of a Grade II listed Georgian water mill. Enjoy sights and sounds from the plethora of coastal birds and wildlife that frequents this area from the comfort of your own private first floor balcony.

Neighbourhood information

Charming Burnham Overy Staithe is a hive of activity. Crabbing, boat launching, boat hire, paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming and walking can all be enjoyed here. Even during the winter months, walkers, cold water swimmers, bird watchers and hard-core sailors all congregate here. There really is nowhere quite like Burnham Overy Staithe. The causeway path is a rewarding walk through the marshes, over the dunes and then onto a vast open sands where you can easily find solitude, even in summer. Carry on east to Holkham beach and Wells-next-the-Sea, if you’re feeling energetic. Alternatively, head west past the impressive windmill, and through the marshes where thousands of birds feed and gather throughout the year. Drop into a pub to refuel, then return by Coasthopper bus, to make a great day out. Catch the ferry to the eastern end of Scolt Head Island - a magical location for a family picnic or game of cricket. Walk across the marshes at low tide and explore the nature reserve with nesting birds and rare wild plants. The Hero at Burnham Overy Staithe is just the place to refresh after a hearty walk or sail, with a good choice of local ales and ingredients to suit everyone. Neighbouring Burnham Deepdale hosts a parade of lifestyle shops and local craft shops, plus a cafe and petrol station. The RSPB reserve at Titchwell is only a short drive or scenic bus ride away. A little further is Thornham, home to a fabulous beach, The Drove Orchards farm shop, and famous fish 'n' chip shop, Eric's. The Thornham Deli serves great breakfasts and meals throughout the day, and the lifestyle and homeware store is worth perusing. Nearby in Brancaster, the The Jolly Sailors welcomes muddy boots. For more formal dining book a table in advance at The White Horse which boasts spectacular view of the marshes from its conservatory and terrace. Enjoy local seafood whilst watching the tide come in over the creeks as the sky dramatically changes colour. If you're keen to rustle...
