Woodlands is a stylish B&B in the Great Glen. Situated in East Lewiston, part of the picturesque village of Drumnadrochit, it is an ideal location for guests wishing to explore the Highlands and Western Isles. Surrounded by stunning countryside, guests are spoiled for choice with numerous scenic walking opportunities right on the doorstep. Our 3 en suite bedrooms (Orchid, Bluebell and Fern) have been recently refurbished to a high standard with guests’comfort in mind. All 3 rooms on the first floor benefit from beautiful panoramas of the surrounding hills, unforgettable sunsets, sunrises and starry skies. Each bedroom has modern and stylish furnishings, its own seating area, Freesat TV, a hospitality tray we replenish daily. All bathrooms are well-appointed with shower, heat adjustable towel rail, LED mirror, complimentary toiletries from Ness Soap, bathrobes, fluffy towels. Willow is our self-catering accommodation and can host two people. It is located on the ground floor with a private entrance direct from the garden into the open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. With a separate shower room, the bedroom can be set as a twin or King size bed. It is non-smoking throughout.
We moved to Woodlands in the early summer of 2019. We have spent the autumn and winter months totally refurbishing guests’ bedrooms and bathrooms as well as public areas. Our overall colour palette is fresh, relaxing with a discreet touch of Scottishness flowing through the B&B. An open plan snug serves as a mini library where guests can borrow reading books, guide books, road maps and leaflets. We have a large garden area at the front of the house where guests are welcome to sit out, relax and enjoy the views. We have travelled extensively through Europe to visit relatives and friends but also with our previous line of work. We have also explored further East, West and Australasia for our own enjoyment. With this in mind, we appreciate how important it is to stay in welcoming and comfortable accommodation with friendly, attentive hosts.
We first relocated to Scotland in the 90s and are delighted to have returned to such a special place. We are yet to see Nessie and the Aurora Borealis but spotted the Moray Firth dolphins and seals at Chanonry Point.
We look forward to welcoming you at Woodlands and hope you also have the best of times exploring the Highlands.
A trip to the Highlands of Scotland is never complete without a visit to Loch Ness. Woodlands Bed & Breakfast is just a stone throw away from this magical stretch of water and the famous Urquhart Castle. Drumnadrochit hosts the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition, is 20 minute drive from Fort Augustus, 30 minute drive from Inverness, close to North Coast 500 and Great Glen Way. The bus service from Drumnadrochit to Inverness/Fort Augustus/Fort William/isle of Skye is highly reliable allowing guests to explore areas of natural beauty: Caledonian canal and locks, Glen Affric (renowned for its Caledonian pinewoods), Plodda Falls set in forest of fir, Invermoriston, Eilean Donan Castle (13th century Castle steeped in history and Jacobites'rising). Within the spacious grounds of Woodlands, guests might catch a glimpse of the odd rabbit, pheasant, hedgehog and birds. Better still, why not venture to our local Woodland Trust trails: Urqhuart Bay, Craigmonie Woods (a short walk from Woodlands, Divach falls) and Abriachan only 6 miles away. ‘Drum’, as known locally, benefits from pubs, restaurants and cafes, within walking distance of Woodlands-Loch Ness Inn being the closest (0.2 miles).
