Woolmarket House encourages exploration with an eclectic mix of up-cycled, re-purposed, antique, and contemporary furniture. The house is a home to our contemporary art collection, and antique market finds from Paris, New York, Brussels and Stockholm. There are display cases from the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, alongside hand-woven rugs from Jaipur, India and sleek school chairs from a flea-market in Amsterdam. We are located in the medieval centre of the town and just a 7 minute walk or short taxi from the main railway station. If you are driving, we can arrange for parking as part of your booking. Our guests also enjoy the usual facilities that most B&Bs provide: en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi, access to subscription TV, a selection of drinks, bottled water as well as tap, coffee and tea, herbal teas, and seating with shelves lined with books, for those who like to read something during their stay. Children under 2 are accommodated free of charge but please bring their food and any high chair or carry cot they may need in the room. We are non-smoking venue and do have a pet of our own, Bodhi - a cross Beddlington Terrier / Whippet who does not venture into guest rooms.
Paul and Paul share their creative point of view with guests by distributing a carefully considered collection of contemporary art and found objects throughout Woolmarket House. Paul Barratt is a curator having trained in London at Goldsmith's College, London University and the Royal College of Art. He worked for a number of art galleries in London (Anthony D'Offay Gallery, Lisson Gallery) and New York (Gladstone Gallery) and as an independent curator in London. Paul Vater ran his own successful design agency based in Westbourne Grove, West London, specialising in corporate branding for 25 years. The agency has arts and cultural sector clients, local and national government clients, marketing agencies and influential e-commerce websites. He still designs e-commerce websites and digital design for in-house[ projects. Together, Paul and Paul currently organise pop-up exhibitions showcasing contemporary art and craft by artists and makers from across East Anglia - see Contemporary and Country.
