Xamoudochori is a semi-mountainous village in Chania, offering impressive views of the coastline of Platanias Municipality. It is located 19 kilometers from the center of Chania, at an altitude of 110 meters. The approximately 150 permanent residents primarily engage in olive and vineyard cultivation. The traditional café in the center of Xamoudochori awaits visitors, offering refreshing local drinks from Crete and traditional tsikoudia (a local spirit). At the higher elevations of the village, with views over the vast olive groves and vineyards of the area, as well as the Chania Bay with the Spatha Cape in the distance, the first tourist accommodations in the area begin to appear. The central church of Xamoudochori is dedicated to Saint John Chrysostom, and it celebrates its feast day on November 13th.
