My house Jolanta has a modern, bioclimatic design and is located on the beachside (200 meter). It was only recently completed. So it's brand new. The house has two bedrooms. In one of the bedroom is a gallery. The house has an open-plan kitchen, a living room with fireplace, a storage room, two bathrooms and two toilets, a small atrium, two terraces and two garden sides. Overall, my house offers everything you need for a carefree stay. A total of four guests can stay overnight and feel at home all year round. There is a fireplace and underfloor heating. The surrounding area offers hikers, cyclists and, of course, bathers a beautiful, unspoilt natural environment. However, in order to be flexible for shopping, visits to restaurants, cafés and bars, or to visit archaeological sites etc., you will need a car on site. The nearest towns are Komotini (30 km), Xanthi (50 km) and Alexandroupolis (60 km).
What I really appreciate and almost consider a luxury is to walk to the beach (200 metres) in summer, swim in the sea and then have a drink on the terrace while enjoying the unobstructed view of the sea. In colder seasons, it's also wonderful to come home to a cosy, warm house after a long walk on the beach or in the mountains and relax in front of the fireplace with a view of the sea through the floor-to-ceiling window.
As a German-Greek, I am happy when guests feel comfortable in my new holiday house. If you want to enjoy nature and hospitality as much as I do, then you are in the right place in one of the not yet so touristically developed areas of Greece on the northern Aegean. With only 200 meters to the beach and the mountains in the background, my house offers the ideal accommodation to take a break and relax all year round. I look forward to seeing you!
Profitis Hlias/Maronia is located 30 km southeast of Komotini and is a rural village with still traditional houses, it is located not far from Lake Ismarida in a charming landscape in the middle of huge archaeological sites that reach down to the coast. The ancient city was founded at the foothills of the Ismaros Mountains (southern Rhodope Mountains) by settlers from the island of Chios in the 7th century BC.
It experienced its heyday in the 5th century BC and, together with Abdera and Aino, it formed the most important trading center of Thrace. In the reddish rocks of the area there are small caves. Slightly salty lakes with many fish and birds characterize the landscape. Nearby is the fishing village of Agios Charalambos.
The archaeological site of Maronia covers an area of two kilometers and includes remains of the ancient city walls, a theater, a sanctuary believed to have been dedicated to Dionysus. Maroneia was the hometown of the ancient Greek philosopher Metrocles.. So you will be in good company ;-), because P. Hlias, our village, which belongs to the Maronia district, is right there on the beach. If you love the Sea AND Mountains, you'll have unforgetable holidays!
