Stone-built and fully renovated, this two-storey traditional house is situated in the lively village of Kastamonitsa, at the foot of the Lasithi Range of Eastern Crete, not very far from the tourist areas. Far from the summer crowds but close to the sea side and areas of interest, this is where you may experience the extraordinary life of the mountain villages of Crete and original Cretan hospitality.
It accommodates up to 5 persons sleeping in comfort in 3 separate rooms. In addition, there are 2 settees suitable for small children of up to 8 years of age.  Bedding and towels are provided. A portable cot is available upon request. 
A bottle of virgin olive oil is offered for free.
There is another entrance without steps. From this secondary entrance guests can carry their luggage without stairs.
Parking is free on the streets of the village and outside of the main entrance of the house.
Close at house, after pre-arrangement, you can have breakfast or day meals at "Ms. Amalias Place". Also at "Metohi House" (900m. away from Kaldi's) you can taste breaksfast or dinner (free use of swimming pool with breakfast/dinner). Only pre-arranged reservations, 1-2 days before, Ms.Katerina
Suggested beaches for swimming:
At a distance of 20Km to the north lies the area of Chersonissos and its beautiful beaches, while Stalida is 27Km and Malia is 30Km from Kastamonitsa. These are organized beaches with shades and loungers. 40Km to the south you come across Keratokampos, a quite seaside village with little taverns on the beach, the vast Skouros beach with natural shade from trees, the beach of Listis, and many more, with crystal clear water.
Places worth visiting:
There is an abundance of places of interest within reach from Kastamonitsa. It is 26Km from the Lasithi plateau, and 33Km from Dikteon Cave where, according to Greek mythology, the goat Amaltheia nursed baby Zeus. Kastamonitsa is 1Km from the traditional village of Amariano with a century-old plane tree and stone water fountains. It is also 14,7Km from the Monastery of Panagia Kera, and 21,36Km from the Agarathos Monastery and less than 40km from the Minoan palaces of Malia and Knossos.
Hiking:
There are several hiking routes at in the Lasithian mountains in the area of Kastamonitsa, leading to peaks, forests, and villages.From Kastamonitsa follow the ancient Minoan trail setting off at the rural church of St George in Mesada, which is fastest route to reach the Lasithi Plateau. Take an ascending path to reach the peak named Mikros Afentis at 1578m, with a small church of Christ, where you may take in views of both the Cretan and the Lybian sea. During the Pentecost, lively festivities in which everyone is welcome to participate, are held at this spot by the local shepherds. Other short hiking routes:Starting from the Lasithi plateau you may reach the peaks of Karfi at 1200m, Selena at 1559m, Megalos Afentis at 2141m, Spathi at 2148m, Lazarus at 2058, etc. You may also cross the forest of Selanako, and the gorge of Chavga.
To the south, the Asterousia range, also known as the holy mountain of Crete involve trails leading to hermitages, cave-monasteries and tops peaks overlooking the Lybian sea, such as Kofinas at 1231m, beaches, canyoning, via ferrata, waterfalls, and much more.
