Lotza is a traditional two-roomed house set in the beautiful mountain village of Salakos, which has been restored with great love.
Kristi's husband, George, inherited the house from his grandmother, and as Kristi's grandmother lived next door, both Kristi and George have happy childhood memories of visiting both houses, playing outside in the street with the other children of the neighbourhood while donkeys and goats roamed, and their Giagia's sat outside their houses sharing the village gossip.
Today, Giagia's (Grandma's) little traditional home, Lotza, is lovingly restored & renovated retaining many original features such as the "musandra" or platform bed subtly revealing the ways of the past while offering the comforts of today.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining and seating area with a double bed on the "musandra" - the local name for the traditional raised platform bed space.
A separate double bedroom with a stone bed frame and its own tea and coffee making facilities is separated from the main living area by the spacious bathroom which has a shower.
The sofa can be used as a double sofa bed and there is a further sleeping space under the "musandra"
Hi, I am Kristi and together with my husband, George, we welcome you to Lotza Traditional House.
We both grew up in the beautiful mountain village of Salakos and our Grandmothers's lived next to each other, so we have known each other all of our lives. I was still only in my teens when we became sweethearts, and we eventually married. Now we live in Rhodes Town and have two wonderful grown-up children. We still love to return to Salakos as a family to stay in Giagias house and visit our children's Giagias!
I have a lifetime of hospitality experience and know-how important it is to exceed our guest's expectations and extend our traditional warm Greek hospitality. Indeed, the villagers are well known for their welcoming ways, so don't be surprised if you receive fruit or vegetables from your neighbours when staying at Lotza Traditional House.
