Set between two natural creeks—usually flowing with water until late spring—the house offers a refreshing sense of seclusion and connection to the land. After May, the creeks typically dry up, leaving behind the sounds of the surrounding countryside.
You’ll enter through a private courtyard with space for parking. Inside the ground floor, you’ll find a cozy bedroom with a double bed, a small bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a welcoming living room that opens into the inner courtyard.
Outdoor stairs from the courtyard lead to the upper floor, where you'll find a second bedroom with a double bed a compact bathroom and direct access to a spacious veranda. Here, you can relax on sunbeds under the umbrella and take in sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.
The inner courtyard is one of the home's highlights—furnished with a dining table, comfortable sofa, and a gas barbecue, it’s ideal for enjoying quiet mornings or starlit dinners.
Thanks to its central location on the western side of Crete, the house is about one hour’s drive from some of the island’s most famous beaches, such as Elafonissi, Balos, Falassarna, Sougia, and Paleochora. The nearest beach, in Tavronitis, is just a 15-minute drive away, while the beautiful city of Chania is only 30 minutes from the house.
If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat full of history, nature, and simple comfort—while staying close to both the mountains and the sea—our home offers a truly Cretan experience
The house is surrounded by our family’s own avocado orchards. Please note: this is an authentic countryside home, and nature is part of the experience. You may encounter flies, insects, or small harmless creatures during your stay. Don't be alarmed. We all coexist peacefully
Next to our house is the Church of Saint Athanasios, a small Byzantine chapel dating back to the 14th or 15th century. Though no longer in use as a place of worship, apart from once a year, on the feast day of Saint Athanasios when a small local celebration (panigyri) takes place, and a single liturgy is held — the only time the church is used for worship during the year, it remains an important historical monument. The church contains fragments of wall paintings, including scenes from the life of Saint Mary of Egypt.
