Kyparissia, a seaside town next to the Ionian Sea, is located in the beautiful region of Messinia, in the Peloponnese, in the Southern end of the Gulf of Kyparissia. The access from Athens, Patras or Kalamata is rather easy. 60 klm from Kalamata Airport 150 klm from Patras Port 260 klm from Athens (2 ½ hours drive through the new highway) Kyparissia’s old town, which spreads around the medieval castle, is declared as an archeological site and a preserved settlement. The unlimited view to the Ionian Sea and to the magnificent sunset create a unique atmosphere. Only a few kilometers away, you can visit the beautifully restored ancient city of Messini, the archaeological site of Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games, the unique temple of Apollo Epicurius and also the medieval castle of Chlemoutsi. One hour drive from Kyparissia, the Neda River with its beautiful waterfalls is located, while the Mycenaean site of Peristeria with the impressive domed funerary monuments next to the canyon of Agia Theodora, is only 4 kilometers away from the town. Very close to Kyparissia the restored Byzantine temple is also located, at the Christianoi village.
