Welcome to Villa Odyssea, a tranquil house on the beach where modern hospitality encounters history and ancient myths. On the peaceful shore of Dikella, near the town of Alexandroupolis and opposite the virgin island of Samothrace, Villa Odyssea is located in the very heart of the land where Homer’s legendary hero made his first stop from Troy, before he sailed again on his epic journey in the Mediterranean. Enjoy this homy sanctuary for absolute relaxation with the sea literally at your doorstep, and make the most of your stay with authentic experiences in this -still untouched by mass tourism- part of Greece.
The small property that was created with much love by local owners, is ideal both for family vacations and friend or couple getaways, consisting of two villas accommodating up to 10 people, terraces to lunch and relax, a pool, and beautiful green gardens that lead to your almost private sand and pebbles beach.
The hotel is wheelchair accessible and pet friendly.
The coastline
The area’s best sandy beaches are located just in few minutes walk or drive from the Villa. Visit Agia Paraskevi for swimming and lunch at the taverns on the beach, eat fresh fish at Ai Georgis restaurant or Makri's port, both with stunning sea view, or enjoy traditional greek food and kebab at the village of Dikella.
Alexandroupolis
Explore the modern city that was founded as a fishing village in early 19th century and grew into an important commercial center, with its port, airport, railway and highway. Visit the many museums (Archeological, Historical and Ethnological), admire the biggest lighthouse of Greece walking at the promenade overlooking the Thracian sea and enjoy a rich nightlife with many restaurants, taverns bars and cafes.
Makri
The quiet fishing village with its simple tavernas, little harbour and the Cyclops's Cave right above it, is ideal for a casual lunch or dinner. Surrounded by its famous centennial olive grove with acres of olive trees up to 2,500 years old, planted in prehistoric times and continuing to give their oil generously, this
place is really unique.
Archeological site of Mesimvria Zone
Zone was a thriving colony of the island of Samothrace. This important Greek colony was established in the end of the 7th century and continued to develop until the Roman conquest. At the archaeological site, near the village of Dikella, one can see among others, the ruins of the marble sanctuary of Demeter and the temple of Apollo.
Evros River Delta
Just southeast of Alexandroupolis, where the Evros River reaches the Aegean, 188 sq km of coastal lakes, lagoons, sand dunes, swamps and reed beds harbour an immensely rich amount of wildlife. In the spring migrations, thousands of wader birds pause here to feed in the nutrient-packed waters. One of the most important wetlands of Europe is really worth your visit.
