Kontomari is a located 18km from the city of Chania and near the historical Maleme, a famous village of the WWII resistance. Kontomari is composed by the seaside Pyrgos Psilonerou, by Metochi and the semi-mountainous settlements of Koilada and Xirokambos which will definitely leave its visitors with great images, tastes, and smells. Kontomari produces high-quality olive oil and citrus fruit. In the center of the village, you will find a memorial for the men killed by the Nazi as a retaliation for their participation to the Battle of Crete and this made Kontomari one more martyr village of the area.
