Omiš je smješten na ušću rijeke Cetine. Grad je to bogate i slavne povijesti, nekadašnje gusarsko središte, odakle su gusari vladali Jadranom.
Gusarsku povijest zorno prethode gradske tvrđave Mirabella (Peovica) i Starigrad (Fortica). S Peovice se može vidjeti cijeli Omiš, kao Fortice cijeli Brački kanal, otoci Brač, Hvar i Šolta i ušće rijeke Cetine, što je bilo vrlo važno za gusarenje, jer se s jednog mjesta moglo nadzirati veliko područje na kopnu i moru.
Obje tvrđave, uz spomenik kulture kao što je crkva Sv. Petra na Priku, svjedoče danas o bogatoj kulturnoj baštini ovog gradića.
Prekrasna rijeka Cetina i njezin kanjon, krške ljepotice planine Dinare, Mosor , prastari maslinici i vinogradi te obližnji srednjodalmatinski otoci zajedno čine ambijent nevjerojatne ljepote koji vrijedi posjetiti.
