Thanks to the location of 'City-Top Guesthouse', one can enjoy an exclusively odd view over the city, river Danube, the surrounding mountains and 'Castle Hill' with the dome and the royal castle. The building lies within a distance of a few minutes walk to city centre, and it can be approached by car too. 'City-Top Guesthouse' consists of two apartments, the smaller one (40 sq.m, 430 sq.ft) is entirely on the ground floor, while the bigger one (90 sq.m, 970 sq.ft) is also located partially on the ground floor with rooms in the attic. If one books both apartments at the same time, those two optionally can be merged together and thus used as a stand-alone house.
The building is completely new, well furnished and mechanised, with cooking and baking options in its all equipped kitchens.
The guest house is equipped with flat UHD televisions with wide channel range and a fast internet connection (WiFi + cable connectors in all rooms).
I had always enjoyed hosting people and creating an environment which allows for spending quality time together and which fosters recreation and collection of positive experiences.
Since I started operating City-Top Guesthouse in 2022, I feel I have found the activity where I can do well. It makes me really happy to see that my guests are satisfied with the accomodation I provide for them and that they feel well during their stay in Esztergom.
'City-Top' Guesthouse is situated at a beautiful, unique and exciting venue in Esztergom, right on the top of St. Thomas Hill, facing the 'Country's Flag', and in the neighbourhood of the charming Thomas Becket Chapel. The guesthouse is found in the middle of district 'Szenttamás', which is one of the oldest, historical part of Esztergom. With its unique atmosphere, the narrow, windy streets, and small houses 'Szenttamás' used to be a separate settlement until the 19th century, mainly residence of workers, traders and craftsmen. In the middle age it was also the scene of fierce battles between Hungarian and Ottoman troops, which is still commemorated by the iron cannonballs hiding meters beneath the ground surface. When City-Top Guesthouse was built in 2018, numerous cannonballs were excavated from the soil.
In the deep inside of St. Thomas Hill, there is also a cave system in limestone, where an internal lake of hot water is hiding. It is the source of several hot springs. One of those supplies the water to Bath 'Szent István' (St. Stephen) which lies close to 'City-Top Guesthouse'.
Some old people still remember that there were another hot springs and fountains around the top of the hill. One of those just next to the guesthouse. The little square in front of the guesthouse's entrance is still sometimes referred to as "tócsa" (means 'pool').
