We fell in love in Amed nearly 20 years ago, when only the adventurous travellers would come to the furthest Eastern part of Bali, some parts have not changed at all to this day. We enjoy interacting with the Balinese people and their way of life and culture, we support many local projects and volunteer often. We also have created a free weekly yoga class for the children in our village.

Life in Amed is a special place, integrated in a Balinese Fishing Village which has not changed in decades. We are directly beachfront, so if you get up early you can enjoy epic sunrises, then underwater directly in front we have abundant corals & marine life. Each area of the hotel has been specially designed using natural materials and hand made furniture and antiques. We have beautiful tropical plants, all the colors, fragrances and textures that really pull together to make this a magical spot on the ocean. Plus we have wonderful staff, most of whom are from our village and worked with us since the beginning.

We are in a fishing village where the way of life has not changed much for generations. Most people live very basically and are immersed in daily life of fishing and preparing for ceremonies the may involve their family and all the village. All are Hindu, there are many temples and offerings daily, which is normal in Balinese life. We are on the ocean, the fishermen leave daily on their colorful boats to fish for mackerel , some go for tuna, mahi, mahi and barracuda . They spend the rest of the day restoring their boats or making new ones all by hand. The local children play on the beach each afternoon. Some people will ask you if you would like a massage or boat trip, this supports the local economy and enhances our guests experience, interacting with the local people and making friends and finding out about their simple lives.
