Herlihy's Half Way House is a short 10 minute drive from Killarney (15 minutes by bus or train). This former pub has been reimagined as a cosy living space, yet retains all the memorabilia and ambience of a traditional Irish country pub. Herlihy’s Bar ceased trading as a licensed premises in 2017. Since then bar and ancillary areas have been re-commissioned as wheelchair friendly self-catering accommodation, suitable for two-four adults.
The Bar Counter is now home to a bespoke fitted kitchen, featuring all “mod cons” and the Bar-Floor area has been transformed into living/dining space. This area contains up-cycled bar furniture to provide a quirky dining space. The cosy living area features a fireplace, sofa-bed, television, coffee tables, dresser etc. The entire “Pub” is decorated with bar memorabilia collected by three generations of female publicans (Marie, the current proprietor, her mother and grandmother) over a period of 105 years!
In contrast with the Traditional Bar Ambiance, the remainder of the unit is ultramodern and encompasses, an entrance hallway, a double bedroom, bathroom and utilty room.
