We've worked together since 1981, Martin as a furniture/interior designer and ceramicist and Bryan as an Industrial Designer and watchmaker. We found Kilgraney in late 1992, or rather Kilgraney found us, and, following extensive renovation works, we've been welcoming guests since June 1994.
From 2022, we're promoting accommodation in the courtyard suites and cottages that surround the main house and, with regret, the main house and dining room will no longer be available to guests.
We're keen gardeners and we've restored and developed the gardens at Kilgraney with a series of courtyards, garden rooms, orchards and walks. We hope you'll enjoy the colour and fragrance of the flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on site.
We like traveling and we were fortunate to spent much of the late '80's and early '90's working in the Philippines, Bangladesh, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kosovo, Pakistan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bolivia and Barbados. Interiors in the main house are inspired by our travels and the artifacts we collected along the way.
We look forward to meeting you and hope you'll enjoy your stay in one of the suites or cottages that surround our home.

Since 1994, we have been inspired by Kilgraney and captivated by what the surrounding countryside, towns and people have to offer. We invite you stay and experience an encounter with our locality for yourself.
The suites and cottages at Kilgraney House offers guests a memorable stay in a tranquil rural setting on the Carlow Kilkenny border. Accommodations are annexed from the main house and are surrounded by extensive gardens and granite stone courtyards filled with culinary, aromatic and medicinal plants.
Comfortable beds ensure you’ll have a restful sleep and awake refreshed for whatever your day may have in store. A Continental-style breakfast: with home baked brown bread and preserves, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal, cheese and cooked meats, teas and coffee; is provided in your room.
So relax, unwind and come to love Kilgraney as much as we do.

Kilgraney is located in a quiet rural setting overlooking the Barrow valley in County Carlow. The house is equidistant from Bagenalstown and Borris village (6 km/3 miles).
The Barrow River and the Blackstairs Mountains are nearby and offer many opportunities to encounter rural Ireland with unspoilt natural habitats and village life along quiet riverside walks and, for the more energetic, a good selection of forest and hill walks too.
Carlow town and Kilkenny City are about 20 minutes by car.
Carlow town is the home of VISUAL, an iconic multi-disciplinary arts centre in the heart of the town, with four world class gallery spaces and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, a 335-seat performance space. It’s mission is to create a space for audiences, artists and communities to engage with, explore and be inspired by contemporary art and performance, and to work innovatively and collaboratively to contribute to the long term cultural, social and economic development of the region.
Kilkenny City also has much to offer with a fine castle and many original medieval buildings. It's also home to the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and numerous crafts people and workshops.
