Known to the postman as Figart, the Wee Green House was originally a horse stable built in the 1880s by Lord Leitrim. It’s now a peaceful escape-pod holiday cottage for good humans. The house is in the beautiful village of Carrigart, Co. Donegal, Ireland, on the Wild Atlantic Way, surrounded by stone walls, sea views, and good vibes. Despite being close to so many beautiful treasures, everything is a bit quieter here. The house is beautiful, full of charm, cozy, and - of course - painted green.
The house can create a lot of memories for being so wee. It’s very cute for being so green. And it’s unusually cozy for originally being built for horses. The wee blue recliner, charming fireplace, fast internet, bountiful board games, assortment of boogie boards & toys, and incredibly good views will make even the most studious of remote workers lose their focus from time to time.
The house has three bedrooms. Most windows face Mulroy Bay, which likes to show off 2-hour sunsets in the summer and rainbow mornings in the fall and spring. If you’re lucky you could even see snow capped hills in the winter (and if you’re really, really lucky, you can on rare occasion see the Northern Lights).
I love traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit around 85 countries. Even luckier, I often get to travel with my two daughters and spouse, Erin. Together, our family really enjoys building new relationships with folks from all corners of our planet and split time between Ireland and the United States. We are excited to welcome you to enjoy our escape pod in one of the best-kept-secrets in the world - Co. Donegal. Our friend Louis will be available to help answer any questions you might have and get you settled. Once booked, we’ll introduce you.
Located in the quiet Gaeltacht village of Carrigart, the Wee Green House is seconds walk from delicious restaurants, cozy pubs, a co-working space, a clinic, a post office, a bank, some salons, a grocery store, two parks, some horse riding stables, and everything else you'd need. It's minutes away from breathtaking hikes, epic wind-swept beaches, world-class golfing, kayaking, fishing, dance clubs, and so much more. Located between Downings and Glen, it's the perfect spot for a relaxing (or adventurous) break.
Parking is easily done on the street, right in front of the wee house. We're about 3.5 hours from the Dublin Airport, 2.5 hours from Belfast, and an hour from Donegal's airport. The village itself is easily walkable (and they are even building a path to the beautiful and hip town of Downings).
