Neighbourhood information

Great starting point to explore the Monte Ortobene, the wonders of Barbaricina, the museums of Nuoro or the Gulf of Orosei about 50 minutes drive. Monte Ortobene is an ancient granite mountain that, in addition to a rich flora and wildlife, preserves stories, traditions and ancient legends to discover. At the top visible from the city, you can admire the large statue of the Redeemer, from which takes its name the Festival of the Redeemer represented by a parade of costumes, songs and traditional dances of all the Sardinian countries. Of significant interest are the so-called "sa basin" it is a sheepfold inside a huge rock, unique in Europe, as well as the domus de janas (literally houses of fairies), are prehistoric tombs carved in the rock typical of Sardinia prenuragica and ruins of rural churches. In the rocks of Mount Ortobene you can climb, there is also the presence of marked trails for trekking and MTB enthusiasts through dense forests and Mediterranean scrub.
