My name is Alessandra and with my husband Pietro we share a love and respect for Bova, Greek Calabria and Aspromonte, a beautiful area where it is possible to live peacefully and with dignity.
With conviction and enthusiasm we have tried to bring up our daughters here and with the same commitment we want to enthuse those who decide to come and visit us. We have been offering quality hospitality since 2010, when we started this adventure by opening the Kalòs B&B. Then in 2017 we opened the AAT ‘Graziosa casa grecanica’ and now we have managed to increase the number of our rooms with the B&B Kalòs experience, aware that knowing the territory means first of all living it together with those who live there every day, facing opportunities and difficulties.
As Lev Tolstoy wrote, “If you tell your journey well, you will speak to the whole world...”. And we want to tell this land to the national and international tourist, attentive to culture, nature and the environment, to that “experiential tourist” who is looking for something he has not yet found, something he perceives as missing but does not quite know what it is....of which he may have a vague memory in the memory of scents and food, but which he cannot identify in its entirety. Those who stay at the B&B Kalòs experience will be helped to rediscover all this, through the story and knowledge of a “simple”, “sincere” and “true” territory. where people capable of welcoming still live. Places where time has stood still, remaining authentic in their traditions, food and wine and respect for nature. Places where chance encounters are often consecrated with the sharing of food, wine, music and stories, and where the “stranger” is considered a “God”, because of that hospitality, of Homeric memory, that here is called “philoxenia”, according to which the stranger encountered, even if dressed in rags, could be a God, come down from Olympus to Earth, to blend in among common mortals...
宿泊施設の情報
The B & B Kalòs experience, renovated in 2024, is located in Bova in the province of Reggio Calabria in an old tower house located in the historic centre. It has four rooms with en-suite bathrooms, including a family room with independent entrance All rooms have air conditioning, minifrigor, phone, WiFi.... The three rooms with shared entrance share a dreamy panoramic covered veranda for breakfast... ideal for relaxing but also for drinking tea or coffee during the day looking out over the Ionian Sea and the Borgo. It is fully equipped (kettle, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster, cups, glasses, cutlery, refrigerator, sink......), with everything available for a good Italian breakfast included in the price that guests prepare themselves with packaged goods (tea, coffee, milk, rusks, biscuits, biscuits, bread, jam, yogurt, juice, water, fruit.... ) as per B&B regulations in Calabria. The family room also has its own breakfast cabinet inside, and can use a small square with pergola for relaxation. For guests there is a washing machine for a fee, while family friendly services (cot, pram) are free of charge. Children up to 5 years old (without extra bed) do not pay. Together with my husband Pietro, who is an Official Guide of the Aspromonte National Park, you can go hiking and nature walks in the mountains (for a fee). With the car you arrive 50m from the B&B for loading/unloading, and then you can park for free and safely on the public road 150m away. Staying at the B & B Kalòs experience has an added value, because those who run it know the area inside out and are the architects of the local development that the Borgo has been experiencing since the 1990s, and when they welcome their guests they tell a story and try to convey the pride and love they have for this land.

The B & B Kalòs experience is located in Bova, an ancient and characteristic Calabrian village perched 900 metres above sea level with views of the Ionian Sea and the majestic, imposing and sometimes smoking volcano Etna. Its location is fantastic: it is 15 minutes from unspoilt beaches and 15 minutes from secular woods It is easily reached from the coast, thanks to a recently tested high-speed road, and is 55 minutes from the Reggio Calabria Airport, which Ryan air and ITA fly to. In Bova, the cultural capital of the Grecanica Area, the language of the Greeks of Calabria, a community recognised as a national linguistic minority, is preserved and the elderly still speak the Greek of Homer. A unique cultural identity, enriched over the centuries by the Greek world, the refinement and spiritual depth of the Byzantine one, and the architectural elegance typical of the highland villages of the southern Apennines, is preserved in food and wine, crafts, music and rural traditions. Life is marked by simple rhythms linked to nature, the seasons and the biodiversity of the Aspromonte National Park, since 2021 a UNESCO Geopark. From the end of the 1990s to the present day, Bova has undertaken an important and meticulous action of conservative recovery of public and private architectural assets that has restored lustre to the medieval layout of the village, triggering a process of local development that is perhaps unique in Calabria (birth of restaurants , B&Bs and tourist services) . Action that has led to numerous awards: Most Beautiful Village in Italy, Jewel of Italy, Orange Flag and Borgo Americans friendly. The “foreigner” in Bova is considered a “God”, for that hospitality of Homeric memory called “filoxenia”. Here, love for the stranger, as understood by the ancient Greeks, becomes the highest expression of welcome, a fundamental ethical principle to distinguish the “savage and unjust” man, as Ulysses said, from the “hospitable and just” one.
