"Bottega d'Arte" is on the second floor of Palazzo Lattanzi, a historic building in the center of Carrara: it is the family home where we have restored an apartment with three spacious rooms and several common areas.
We aim to offer comfort, whether on vacation or for work: kindness for everyone, cleanliness, and restful sleep, blending antiques and technology with environmental sustainability.
The B&B reflects the soul of the place:
the home of an antique dealer who has hosted cultural, artistic, and scientific figures for over 100 years.
Each room has a name:
the furniture is largely antique, and you will find contemporary or ancient artworks (available for purchase). The floors and coverings are made of Carrara marble or solid oak parquet without adhesives that could emit harmful substances. Some bathrooms have the original enameled cast iron tubs, and the drapes and fabrics are unique pieces chosen from antique textiles.
Modern comforts are not lacking:
"memory foam" mattresses; high-speed Wi-Fi; smart TVs with satellite channels, air conditioning, doors with electronic locks using codes or RFID tags for self check-in.
Attention to guest services includes:
unbleached pure cotton sheets and linens; a complete bathroom set with soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, beauty set, hairdryer; books and children’s games in the common areas and rooms; complimentary local snacks and drinks in the living room/kitchen.
Lastly, environmental sustainability:
no plastic, no waste, recycling, low-impact products, energy control, and local staff.
And our warm welcome for everyone:
tourist information, not hiding any discomforts but helping to overcome them, introducing the home, responding in real-time, and ensuring a hassle-free stay for all persons and lifestyle.
Unfortunately, we do not accept pets as we cannot guarantee the highest cleanliness standards for guests who may suffer from allergies.
The "Bottega d'Arte – Antichità Lattanzi" was founded in 1925 by the patriarch of the family, Corrado Lattanzi, who, with enlightened vision, artistic sensitivity, and commercial acumen, foresaw the importance of starting an art trade business in his native Carrara, combining the sale of objects with the promotion of the area's cultural heritage.
A supporter of local artists, for whom he organized exhibitions and shows (Montruccoli, Dazzi, Vatteroni, Fontana, Cucchiari...), and closely connected to the environment of the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts with figures like degli Angeli, Fabbricotti, Del Medico, Corrado Lattanzi opened a true cultural salon in his shop on Via Cavour. During the Fascist period, it was frequented by Futurists such as Marinetti, Prampolini, and the musician Giuntini, as well as by the city's and the nation’s most cultured clientele, eventually becoming a supplier to the Royal House for numismatics.
After World War II, Corrado Senior combined his passion for furniture, rugs, and paintings with his love for 17th-18th century Oriental and European porcelain, launching a trend that was soon imitated by other prominent antiquarians in nearby Sarzana, Lucca, and Carrara itself—a truly extraordinary passion.
Today, his grandson Corrado Junior continues the antique business, combining it with his profession as an architect, as well as with hospitality and guest services: many ways to offer well-being to people.
The shop thus becomes a reception, an architecture studio, a meeting place, and our B&B reflects our history, offering artworks that are also available for purchase.
The B&B is located in the heart of Carrara, just 100 meters from Piazza Alberica, the charming local spots, and Carrara's main square.
The area is accessible by car, easy to reach, and has a public parking lot (paid during the day) right in front.
Within walking distance, you'll find:
The Carrara Academy of Fine Arts; Palazzo Binelli and Palazzo Cucchiari, venues for exhibitions and artistic events; the MUDAC Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, as well as many restaurants and places to enjoy an aperitivo.
