A stone's throw from Florence, Casa al Miglio is a recently renovated traditional farmhouse in the green quiet of the countryside. Florence is always crowded by tourists and congested by traffic, and in summer it can also be very hot! But here you can enjoy a peaceful stay and a pleasant cool weather. Surrounded by a garden full of flowers and by green meadows where in June you can see fireflies shining, the house is equipped with every comfort, but it still retains something of its history and character: the old fireplace, the original ceilings with wooden beams, traditional furniture in the rooms. In the morning, you can hear the rooster crowing, and from your windows you can possibly see the sheep grazing in the shade of old oaks. Not far away, a vegetable garden provides vegetables for the family. Ideal for those traveling by car, the apartment is on two floors, connected by a short internal staircase (no lift): on the ground floor there is an entrance-living room, on the first floor you'll find the large kitchen with a dining table, three large bright bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the garden, a relaxation area with table, chairs, deckchairs and umbrella is especially reserved for guests. Free parking next to the apartment (inside a fenced area closed by a gate). Florence is 12 km away, and can also be reached by public transport. On the way to the city, you’ll find convenient free parking lots near to the bus stops.

Welcome to Casa al Miglio! My name is Mariele. I have been living for over forty years in this house in the countryside, where I used to share beautiful moments with friends, and where my son and daughter grew up. The portion of the farmhouse that we are offering today to our guests has recently undergone a major renovation, which did not alter its character. I live with my husband, a dog and a cat in an independent part of the same building, so you can easily contact us for any need or information. In another independent portion of the house lives a family of close friends of ours, with whom we get along very well. I love reading, listening to music, singing. I like stories and walks in nature. I am passionate about plants, which for many years have also been the object of my work. Now that I am retired and the kids are independent, opening the apartment next to ours to our guests is also a way to meet people and know their stories.

Casa al Miglio is about 500 m from the village of Pratolino, where you can find shops, services, , a post office, a pharmacy, a bar, a restaurant, an ATM, but also a Medieval parish church, Villa Demidoff with its Medici garden (UNESCO World Heritage Site), an ‘Adventure Park’ for kids. The house is an excellent base for visiting Florence (12 km away), even using public transport. Urban and extra-urban buses that take you to the center in less than half an hour can be taken in Pratolino, or on the way to the city, where wide free parking lots are available close to the bus stops. Around the house, Monte Senario with the ancient monastery surrounded by tall forests that are very cool even in full summer, and Monte Morello, with its wooded slopes crossed by a rich network of paths. To the north lies the Mugello, a green valley between Florence and the Apennines, birthplace of artists such as Giotto, Fra Angelico and Andrea del Castagno. In Mugello you will find towns rich in history, art, traditional crafts and cuisine: San Piero a Sieve, Scarperia, Borgo San Lorenzo, Dicomano, Vicchio, and others. In the background you can see the Apennine mountains. The Autodromo del Mugello (Mugello Circuit, 23 km away) and the Barberino Outlet with its 120 shops (22 km) can be reached by car in less than half an hour.
