Galluzzo, considered the southern gate of the city of Florence, open towards Chianti, is an area of ​​great charm, particularly rich in green areas extending between villages and splendid villas. Very close to the historic center but with splendid routes to do even on foot, which includes unique places such as Pian de 'Giullari and Arcetri: here, in Villa il Gioiello, Galileo Galilei spent the last years of his life and here is also the Astrophysical Observatory; not far away stands the ancient Torre del Gallo and Villa la Gallina, frescoed by Antonio del Pollaiolo. The neighborhood is rich in religious settlements of ancient origins, such as the Church of San Leonardo in Arcetri, Santa Margherita a Montici, the Badia di San Bartolomeo a Ripoli and the nearby San Pietro in Palco, San Michele a Monteripaldi, Santa Maria a Ricorboli which also preserves a Madonna with Child attributed to Giotto.
