Through a sturdy wooden staircase in the living area, equipped with wooden gates, we climb to the upper loft floor with characteristic exposed ceiling beams. Here we find a beautiful double bed, a comfortable sofa bed, wardrobes, and a smart TV. On the characteristic loft, there is also a second bathroom with only the fixtures. The Tonnara of Porto Paglia was set up at the end of the 16th century by the decision of King Philip II of Spain, based on the project of the merchant Porta. The Tonnara complex remained the property of the Crown until 1654, when it was sold to the banker Vivaldi, then to the Brunengo family. In 1800, the Savoy government took it over but sold it again in 1865 to Carpaneto and Ghillino. Its decline began in 1866, and in 1964, it was purchased by a cooperative of fishermen, but the situation did not improve, and in 1978, the assets of the Tonnara passed into the hands of bankruptcy trustees. The nets were lowered for the last time in 1973, and then the buildings were abandoned. In the 1980s, they were acquired by the Tourist Consortium and in 1991 purchased by Dr. Marchi and transformed into a modern residential complex and summer residences.
Casa Paradiso, besides being just a few steps away from the beach of Porto Paglia, is also just a few kilometers away from the most beautiful beaches in Sulcis, such as Masua, Cala Domestica, the dunes of Porto Pino, and many others. Despite being a true paradise, we are not exactly in the middle of nowhere. A large supermarket is just 5 km away, and at the same distance, there are various agriturismos, restaurants, and pizzerias. At 15 km, on one side Iglesias and on the other Carbonia, you will find all services. The SS 130 road to arrive from the port of Cagliari or from Elmas airport is about 50 km.
