🏠 Atrani is a very small village on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno. It is part of the association of the most beautiful villages in Italy and has such a small area that it has been listed as the smallest municipality in Italy. Perfectly nestled in the Coastal territory, a short distance from Amalfi, it is a fishing village that has managed to keep its authenticity and beauty intact. Atrani, "white city of the past and of every day": a definition that goes far beyond the natural beauty of the places and enhances its identity. a heritage of #storia and #tradizioni enclosed in the thousand shades of the purest of colours. The village's connection with white has distant roots, as evidenced by the age-old practice of refreshing the white of alleys, stairways and buildings on the patronal feast day, #22July. The Cave of Masaniello, the Neapolitan people leader leading the popular revolution in the mid-seventeenth century, is the cavity inside which Masaniello apparently hid in 1643, to escape from the viceroy's soldiers. The environment of the cave, formerly perhaps a place of worship, is divided into an upper and a lower floor and preserves undecipherable paintings on the walls. Atrani is a small fishing village, characterized by alleys in which to get lost and Piazza Umberto I, which is the small square of Atrani. It is precisely on this small square that the Church of San Salvatore de’ Birecto overlooks, with its staircase leading to the atrium in front of the entrance. The church dates back to the 10th century and at the time of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi it was the sacred place where dukes were crowned and their ashes housed. How to get there Atrani is just one km from Amalfi and can be reached via State Road 163. The best way to get to Atrani is by sea. by ferry you arrive in Amalfi and then by golf cart you can easily reach home
