The house is located next to one of the "seven gates," historic entrance doors to the historic center of Castel Del Monte, nestled between the two towers on the eastern side of the village. It is small and cozy, easily reachable via a short staircase starting from Via Giuseppe Verdi and then turning right under the arch. The position on the eastern side makes it very bright, even in winter, with a panorama extending from the Capo la Serra ridge to the northeast, and the Majella mountains to the southeast. The house is part of the historic center of Castel Del Monte, situated on the eastern side between two defensive towers, next to one of the seven entrance gates. It is structured over three levels: on the main floor, there are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room. Below, there is the kitchen, and on the lowest level, there is a room with various antique tools collected and displayed. There is also the possibility to use a second entrance. The house is old, probably about 400 years old, and was recently restored after the 2009 earthquake. On the exterior walls, you can still see old arches that have been closed off, which were the original exit passage from the village. The entire house is available to guests.
After living in the city, I decided to return to a more natural life. Since I was a child, I have always had an interest in nature in all its forms, both from my own experiences and from the lives of my paternal and maternal grandparents, who were respectively shepherds and farmers. This has been the guiding thread throughout my life, allowing me to stay on track, always convinced of what I truly wanted to be happy. My true nature. I was looking for a constant, daily connection, so weekly hikes, bike rides, or environmental science studies were no longer enough. A life with natural, authentic rhythms, without all the bombardment of things I didn’t need. Based on different values, such as gift, which is the true essence of love, and sharing. Of time, knowledge, and wisdom. Trying to create a network of exchange, and to live a conscious return to nature without the mistakes of the past, which were caused only by anthropocentrism. Since 2009, I have been living alone in an isolated house in the woods, 300 meters along a path to walk, leaving the car on the road. The house is nestled between two mountains over 2,500 meters high, at the junction of two streams, with drinkable springs, and surrounded by a dense forest. The house has electricity, wifi internet connection, gas with cylinders that I carry on my back, or a wood stove in the kitchen. The water I drink is from the spring 100 meters from the house, which I brought here with pipes. I also have hot water. Here, I chose to grow just enough for self-sufficiency and to carry out rewilding works, naturalistic forestry, and reforestation with native species. I am thinking of building a greenhouse, and mainly I collect wild herbs in the good season. I cook mainly vegetarian. I also live with two cats, Morgan and Aurora, two Martina Franca donkeys, Soriano and Tommy, and wild animals passing through, such as foxes, hedgehogs, roe deer, deer, martens, wild boars, and wolves.
Depending on my work commitments, I will be available to accompany guests on mountain excursions, as I am a registered environmental hiking guide with AIGAE, regularly insured, and have excellent knowledge of the trails and paths of the Gran Sasso in the Aquila and Teramo areas. About 15 minutes from the village, you can easily reach the beautiful Rocca Calascio castle, a location for numerous films and documentaries, listed among the 15 most beautiful castles in the world by National Geographic, from where you can admire all the Abruzzo mountains from a bird's-eye view and enjoy stunning sunsets or starry night skies.
