The Locanda Casanuova is like no other place. "La Bellezza della Semplicità" - is the house motto that we have followed for 30 years. The beauty of simplicity is a holiday without luxuriousness, but with just those pleasantries that help you relax in natural surroundings in one of the most beautiful holiday regions.
At the beginning of the eighties we, Ulla and Thierry Besançon decided to create a place in Tuscany where people who love nature and art would feel welcome. Originally it was a monastery, then an orphanage and finally the seat of the Counts of Serristori. In small, careful steps we renovated the house, designed gardens and terraces and reactivated the farm. Casanuova has become a popular destination for individual guests and groups who are looking for a home while on holiday, and who want to find the authentic Tuscany - which nowadays is very hard to find. Casanuova is a place where people meet and talk, a place of activity and of relaxation, of enjoyment and inspiration- a place many guests return to again and again.
In every corner of Casanuova you will find greenery or blooms, ivy or wild vines climbing the walls, climbing roses covering the walls, or oleander bushes reaching up to the eaves. The garden of the Locanda is a little paradise. Lemons, oranges and bergamot grow in abundance, as do the roses. Many secluded corners around the house invite you to read, dream or sip an aperitif in the evening sun. Directly from Casanuova guests can leave for small or whole-day-hikes. We also offer guided jiking tours with a rustic picknick or BBQ. The hilly country side with its charming vinyards and olive yards is also very inviting for longer e-bike rides.
