Piazza Cernaia is adjacent to the most famous Palazzi dei Rolli on Via Garibaldi: Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco, and Palazzo Doria Tursi. Visiting the Musei di Strada Nuova is a dive into Genoese art and nobility. It’s also close to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo – majestic and contemplative, with its WWII “bombshell” – and to the Old Port & Sottoripa area, which was redeveloped by Renzo Piano. Here you’ll find the Aquarium, the Bigo (panoramic lift), and a range of shops and trattorias under the arcades.
Take the characteristic Art Nouveau-style elevators to Spianata Castelletto – an incredible viewpoint over the city, especially magical at sunset.

Insider Tips:
Book in advance, especially for gourmet restaurants.
Walk everywhere: the climbs, hidden corners, and scenic alleys are the city’s true spectacle.
Alternate with style: one night at a Michelin-starred restaurant, the next at a small bar under the arcades or a caruggio with something simple and authentic.
