Semi professional stainless steel kitchen is fully equipped with pots pans dishes cutlery glasses, cooking utensils. Gas hob, electric fan oven, dishwasher, fridge with small freezer. Espresso maker. Cafettiere and fresh ground coffee. Toaster. Kettle with selection of teas. Cleaning products. Comfortable bath towels, cotton sheets, quality pillows, toiletries and candles provided. Hairdryer. Iron and ironing board. Electric fans on each floor for summer stays. No aircon. Fireplace with wood winter months as well as central heating. For cooking at home, all the basics are there - olive oil, salt pepper herbs and spices etc. You can buy supplies at the grocer/butcher in the village just opposite Peppos Bar (closes midday until late afternoon) 5 mins walk down main steps.

I’m originally born in London and have lived in Pognana for 15 years now just a short walk from the house. I totally renovated the house in 2017. Hosting my house is the only thing I do so I always do my utmost to give my guests a truly memorable experience. There is a small grocer store selling fresh bread and croissants, delicatessen, fruit and vegetables, drinks, general supplies and butcher (open almost every day in high season, otherwise closed Sundays and Monday afternoons). WHERE TO EAT IN THE VILLAGE For dining out, lunch and dinner, walking distance 10 mins there is Meridiana restaurant (closed on Wednesdays) and the fabulous Villa Lario (open April to Oct) reservation advised. The second bar is Sonya Bar (closed Mondays) about 10 mins walk from house on the ancient footpath called the Strada Regia or a few mins by car (driving away from Como direction) The ferry dock is 10 minutes walk down steps. Timetable and tickets online see info in house Lovely hikes on surrounding mountain path. Bellagio is 30 minutes drive or by bus and well worth a visit with fabulous boutiques and restaurants. The waterfall at Nesso next village runs all year. Known locally as the Orrido Pognana has a local beach walking down from Sonia bar or you can swim close to ferry dock. From May to September Pognana has the best sunsets on the lake visible from the terrace in winter and spring. A walk through the woods and up woodland path brings you to Palanzo where I recommend the Casa Combattente bar and restaurant Last Saturday in July is the festa della birra and 16th August is the Sagra del Gnocchi both in the square above the yellow church.
