La Casa del Grillo – A Charming Countryside Retreat
Set amidst the serene rural landscapes of central Italy, La Casa del Grillo is a characteristic country house (90 m²) that reflects the charm and craftsmanship of the early 20th century. Built using decorative elements and materials from historic structures, it retains the character of its historical origins while providing modern amenities.
A truly unique aspect of the house is the collection of sculptures displayed both inside and out — artworks created by my father from repurposed antique agricultural tools. In his honour, the guest house carries the name La Casa del Grillo, meaning The Cricket’s Residence.
The property features three inviting double bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a spacious living room. Additionally, there is a cantina, offering a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a second bathroom with a shower, and a large dining area with a table that comfortably accommodates 10–12 guests. This space also includes a cozy seating area with a sofa, comfortable chairs, and a TV - ideal for gathering and unwinding.
Outside, a vast garden with a swimming pool, barbecue area, hammocks, and sun loungers provide an idyllic setting for a peaceful and memorable countryside retreat. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, ensuring you stay connected while enjoying your escape into nature.
I grew up between city and countryside, with a passion for sports—ranging from skydiving to skiing, from spearfishing to sailing—and a deep love for travel. But at the age of 46, I realised that the tranquillity of country life is worth more than anything else.
Hosting guests at La Casa del Grillo is my way of sharing this sense of peace with those who choose to spend a few days here, surrounded by nature and relaxation. I also enjoy helping people discover the wonders of Viterbo and the Tuscia region, a land rich in treasures — from rejuvenating thermal baths and fascinating Etruscan tombs to breathtaking natural landscapes. It is the perfect destination for a sustainable and restful stay, far from the crowds of tourists.
Located along the Via Francigena in a strategic position, La Casa del Grillo offers easy access to the splendid medieval city of Viterbo, the former papal seat, just a 5-minute drive away, while the grandeur of Rome can be reached in only 45 minutes.
The surrounding area invites you to immerse yourself in history and nature. Discover the fascinating Etruscan necropolises of Tarquinia and Castel d’Asso, experience the enchantment of the Santa’s House in Vetralla, admire the evocative Civita di Bagnoregio, known as the "dying city," and explore the fairytale-like Monster Park of Bomarzo. Nature lovers can visit the two stunning lakes of Vico and Bolsena or take a stroll through the majestic beech trees of the Faggeta dei Monti Cimini, a place of unspoilt charm.
