This large typical Tuscan stone building is over 450 years old. It was converted into separate residences leaving the original character intact. A swimming pool lies in a field below. The nearest village in 3 kilometers Sea cost with beaches only 15 kilometres drive. Original Tuscan farmhous had been abandoned for many years until it was completely restored. Each house has its own separate door and privat yard. You can enjoy Tuscan feasts in the garden, where the stars fall literally into your plate. Don’t be surprised if you see a friendly fox looking for a few remains of your dinner. Up to nine people fit comfortably into each of the houses. Or two families can share one. The living rooms are huge. There are three(four) bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom on each floor. The good-size kitchens on the ground floor are fully equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers and washing machines. When you do not want to eat out there is a large dining area inside. Sienna, Pisa, San Gimignano and other Tuscan highlights are not very far from Vitalba. The nearby Apuan Alps will cool you down on hot days. The Gallo family were globe trotters, some might say adventurers. We never even dreamed that we would end up spending every summer in the same place. But then one year we came upon this old farmhouse, surrounded by nature and with a particular charm which captivated us. We could not give it up, even when it meant travelling for two summers from the Middle East. Vojta learned to swim here. He ate his first gnocchi with pesto and beans “alla uccelleto” and now cooks Italian meals at home. Ema spent her first summer here and is literally a “Vitalba girl”. In the nearby village of Castellina Marittima there is our favorite bar, Il Muretto, where we have our leisurely breakfast every morning and check our email while the children play in the piazza across the road, which by pure coincidence is called Piazza Gallo. Our friend Bruno says that we know Castellina better than the locals. Over the years we have invited many or our friends to come stay with us and few have not returned. If you open up to Vitalba it will enter your heart as it has ours, once and for all.
